Values & Aims

We value, respect and take pride in our nursery, its facilities and grounds.

Through continuous training and evaluation of the service we provide, we will endeavour to meet the constantly changing needs of the children and parents in a professional and sensitive manner.


We aim to always:

  • Provide a safe, stimulating, caring and nurturing environment, enabling all children in our care to reach their full potential.
  • Offer a wide ranging curriculum linked to the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).
  • Offer an “open door” policy enabling parents to form partnerships with their child’s keyPerson and all practitioners’, ensuring each child’s individual developmental needs are achieved.  We welcome suggestions and comments that will help us provide the best quality care for you and your child.
  • Ensure children, parents, guardians and carers are treated as individuals irrespective of religion, gender, cultural origin or ability.


Meet the needs of children with special or individual requirements enabling them to develop to their full potential.

Once you have made the decision to join us and have discussed with our Nursery Manager the availability we have for your child or children, you will be required to complete a registration form per child and we will discourse our settling in procedure with you and all neccessary terms and conditions, we welcome any questions or clarifications you might have.

Practioners work in partnership with children, parents and carers in the nursery to carefully plan children’s next steps of learning around their unique interests and learning characteristics. Know body knows their child like their parents!

Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)
The Early years foundation stage (EYFS) sets the standards that all early years providers must meet to ensure that children learn and develop well and are kept healthy and safe. It promotes teaching and learning to ensure children's "school readiness" and gives children the broad range of knowledge and skills that provide the right foundation for good future progress through school and life.

The EYFS seeks to provide;
Quality and consistency in all early years settings, so that every child makes good progress and no child gets left behind;

A secure foundation through learning and development opportunities which are planned around the needs and interests of each individual child and are assessed and reviewed regularly;

Partnership working between practioners and with parents and/or carers

Equality of opportunity and anti-discriminatory practice, ensuring that every child is included and supported.

Children are born ready, able and eager to learn. They actively reach out to interact with other people, and in the world around them. Development is not an automatic process, however it depends on each unique child having opportunities to interact in positive relationships and enabling environments.

Learning and development is split into the following areas; Prime areas are fundamental, work together, and are more thorough to support development in all areas.

Personal, social and emotional development (PSED)

Communication and language (CL)

Physical development (PD)

Specific areas include essential skills and knowledge for children to participate successfully in society.
Mathematics (M)
Understanding the world (UTW)

Expressive arts and design (EAD)

Learning Journals
Every child at Balloon has their own personal learning journal. As you open the book and turn the pages you can see your child’s/babies day captured with photographs and text. 

The photographs and text are related to the Early Years Foundation Stage .The learning journals are available after every session, so you can reflect back on your child’s day with them at home. We ask parents/carers and children to add to their learning journals at home, adding photographs and writing about their time spent at home, or trips they may have been on. Children attending other settings, such as childminders or more than one nursery are encouraged to use their learning journals wherever they are, allowing a constant approach to the child’s learning. I have kept 'Paula' entire collection of learning journals  in her “keep safe box” at home. I’m sure in years to come he will find his learning journals very amusing with each learning journal recording development of his early years at Balloon Day Nursery.
